FAQs

HOW DO I KNOW IF VIRTUAL REDESIGN IS FOR ME OR IF I NEED A FULL-SERVICE FIRM?

When deciding whether Virtual Interior Redesign is the right fit for your project or if you need a full-service design firm, there are a few key considerations to keep in mind:

Virtual Redesign Is A Great Option If:

- You are comfortable handling some aspects of the project yourself, such as taking measurements, ordering products, and implementing the design.

- You need expert design guidance, but don’t require in-person site visits or project management.

- You want a cost-effective alternative to full-service design, as virtual redesign eliminates overhead costs associated with in-person services.

- You prefer to work at your own pace, implementing changes as time and budget allow.

A Full-Service Firm May Be Better If:

- You want someone to manage every detail of the project, including ordering, installation, and on-site troubleshooting.

- You’re building a home from the ground up and need detailed architectural or space-planning services beyond color and furnishings.

Virtual design allows you to get professional design expertise in a streamlined, affordable way while still having the flexibility to bring your vision to life on your terms. If you’re unsure which approach is best, a discovery call can help determine the right fit for your needs.

DO I NEED TO BE TECH-SAVVY TO USE YOUR SERVICES?

I use a streamlined Client Portal in Notion (which is free!) to keep everything organized in one place— communication, files, inspiration, timelines, and updates as it makes the process easy to follow and ensures nothing gets lost in the shuffle. That said, if you're more comfortable using email or another method, I'm happy to adjust! My goal is to make the experience as smooth and stress-free as possible while still delivering a beautiful, cohesive result.

HOW DO YOU DECIDE IF MY ROOM IS AN OPEN CONCEPT OR NEEDS MORE THAN ONE DESIGN SERVICE?

By assessing the level of continuity between spaces, the sourcing workload, and the need for individual design elements, I determine whether a project qualifies as an open concept design or requires individual room design services. This ensures an efficient design process while delivering the best possible results for the client.

WHAT DOES “STARTING AT” MEAN IN THE PRICING?

For Exterior Color Consulting, the base price covers a simple color package, which includes a body color, trim color, and an accent color (such as for a front door). However, if your project requires a more complex color scheme— like a Victorian home with five or six different colors— the price will adjust based on the number of colors needed to achieve your desired look. After our Discovery Call, you will receive a customized proposal tailored to your specific project.

For Interior Color Consulting, the base price includes a wall and trim color. Additional colors will incur an extra $75 fee per color.

WHY IS A KID’S BEDROOM MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE OTHER BEDROOM DESIGN?

Designing a child’s bedroom tends to be more expensive than an adult or guest bedroom because it requires additional considerations beyond standard furniture and décor.

Functionality & Growth:  Kids' rooms need to be designed to grow with them, which often means incorporating adaptable furniture, extra storage solutions for toys and books, and multifunctional spaces for sleeping, studying, and playing.

Thematic & Customization Needs:  Unlike an adult or guest bedroom, a child’s room is often designed around a theme, requiring custom décor elements such as wall murals, specialty lighting, and playful accessories.

While an adult or guest bedroom typically focuses on comfort and aesthetics, a child’s bedroom requires extra thought, customization, and materials, making it a more involved design project.

HOW MUCH BACK AND FORTH WILL THERE BE?

Honestly, it depends! Although over the last 20+ years, I’ve streamlined my process and questionnaires to ensure I get a clear and accurate picture of what you’re looking for. As long as you’ve filled out the questionnaire to the best of your ability and provided quality photographs and measurements (where necessary), there shouldn’t a ton of back-and-forth. My expertise comes from years of hands-on experience, so I’m able to work efficiently and independently, saving you time and hassle while still delivering the perfect design for your space. You can trust that you’re in good hands, and I’ll handle the details from there!

DO I GET REVISIONS OF THE MOOD BOARD IF I DON’T LOVE THE PRODUCTS SOURCED?

Yes! One revision of the mood board is included with your package. Additional mood boards can be purchased for $75 each if you'd like to explore more options.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?

If something comes up and you need to cancel the service before submitting your information (questionnaire, photos, and measurements), I will gladly refund your deposit— life happens, things come up, I get it! And don’t worry, I’ll still be here to work with you in the future whenever you’re ready to move forward. I’m happy to help whenever the time is right for you.

For completed designs, your satisfaction with the end result is my top priority. With color consultations, it's essential to sample the colors since they can look different at scale and in the actual environment. If, after sampling, you're not completely happy, I will revise the colors to make sure they’re perfect for you.

Whether it’s a redesign or color consultation, filling out the questionnaire thoroughly is key— it helps me understand your preferences from the start and ensures I can create a design you'll love. Ultimately, I’m here to help and want you to be delighted with your design.

DO YOU OFFER IN-PERSON SERVICES FOR PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THE DENVER METRO AREA?

Yes, I do! I offer in-person consultations for clients in the Denver Metro area at an additional rate of $125 per hour, which is billed separately from the package rate. That said, I want to reassure you that my virtual design service is highly effective and eliminates the need for an in-person visit. I began my career over 20 years ago offering mail-order color consultations, and through years of refinement, I’ve honed the process. Virtual design delivers exceptional results, and most clients find it just as personalized and successful as an in-person consultation. With my expertise, I can provide high-quality, customized designs without ever needing to step on-site.

DO YOU DESIGN NEW BUILD OR HOMES UNDER CONSTRUCTION?

My exterior color consultation service is the perfect solution for new home construction projects to ensure all design elements— such as the roof, masonry, paint colors, and trim— work together harmoniously. Selecting these elements at the beginning of the build can significantly impact the overall aesthetic and curb appeal of your home.

However, I specialize in redesign services rather than full-service design for new construction. While I can help refine selections and create a cohesive look, I am not equipped as a full-service firm that manages architectural plans, custom builds, or extensive project coordination. I focus on enhancing and transforming spaces with thoughtful, budget-conscious design solutions that bring out the best in your home or small commercial space.
